ABC Fans: How Would You Fix Your Show?
With the ABC Daytime soaps hitting record low ratings across the board, something has to be done sooner than later or else they're going to be in more trouble than they already are. Soap Opera Source is reaching out to all fans of "All My Children," "General Hospital," and "One Life to Live" to find out how they would do things differently.

If you regularly watch the ABC soaps and are unhappy with the direction of your show, what kinds of stories would you like to see? We don't want to hear how "X Couple" will save the show; we want to know what you would do if you were in charge. How would you fix what's "wrong" with your show? What do you feel is causing the decline in ratings? If you are no longer a viewer of ABC, why did you stop watching? What would it take to bring you back?

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday we will publish the best entries. On Saturday we will publish modified versions of those not published in full.

RE: ABC Fans: How Would You Fix Your Show?
Here's the contribution I sent in:

I am an avid fan of General Hospital but it is so boring lately I can bearly stand to watch it. I miss the continuity of storylines. I'm tired of having new characters continually thrown at me then dropped. I want to see the families I have come to care about return to prominence. Families like the Scorpios and the Quartermaines. I miss Robert and Anna. I would bring Tristan Rogers and Finola Hughes back in a heartbeat and make them front and center with Robin and Mac. I want Emily & Alan to rise from the dead and be in active storylines. I would get rid of the mob - General Hospital has been missing it's moral fiber ever since Sonny & Jason became the focal point of the show. Robert could come back and finally put Jason and Sonny behind bars. I'd bring back Sean & Tiffany. If I was writing GH I would give the show a heart again and get away from the gratuitous sex that seems to have infected the canvas. I want more romance, more loving couples working together to build a foundation for a future. Enough of the pyrotechnics and violence. Give me Frisco & Felicia standing by Maxie and helping her to become a decent person with morals. Give me a good spy mystery or an old-fashioned whodunnit and I'm there to watch. Get rid of the "Who's the daddy?" stories and give me committed couples that want to raise a family together. Bring back villains like Helena and Faison to wreck havoc on the residents of PC. Give Robin something interesting to do if she's going to sit in that lab all day - let her be a bioterrorism expert or a lab tech for the WSB. Don't just make her sit around all day feeling sorry for herself - this is not the Robin Scorpio I know and love. I want an emotional rollercoaster ride! Stop pounding me over the head with reality and give me some intrigue that is plausible and makes sense. Most of all, give me back the holidays - New Year's, Valentine's Day (I want another Valentine's Massacre a la Robert & Anna), the Fourth of July picnic, Thanksgiving, Christmas, weddings where the whole town turns out - these are the things I am missing most from the GH I use to love. Oh, and I REALLY want to see Robert try to change Emma's diapers! Of course, I would write Anna standing behind him and telling him what a disaster he made of the whole thing!

"Life is a party and we got in for free." ~ Jack Wagner

Frisco : Once upon a time there was a rock star who met a princess....
Robin : Did they live happily ever after?
Frisco : Isn't that how all good stories end?

GH: Fire Guza.

OLTL: Get Frons' fingers out of the pie and leave Ron the hell alone. BTW, love Bo and Nora. Put 'em back together and make it stick this time.

AMC: Never have watched. Never will watch. What can I tell ya?

We've been having this discussion for two years here on Tristan's messageboard.

If ABC is interested they should feel free to jump in the conversation. I'll be happy to give them a piece of my mind.

How would you fix Your Show?

Well first I would fire Guza and Frons. Then I would hire a new team all together, preferably Sri Rao and his team.

And that's only for starters....yep, I'm greedy, I'll have to make a list in order to get what I want to see back on my (one and only) soap ever.
