Toungue Karaoke Night at Jake's - More Music Needed
Karaoke Night at Jake's - More Music Needed
Wednesday July 15, 2009

Watching karaoke night (which lasted, what, three episodes) on General Hospital got me thinking.

I remember when I interviewed John Wesley Shipp that he told me that he sang the song "You Needed Me" (I think) everywhere on The Guiding Light - in the shower, outdoors, indoors, in bed, you name it, the fans heard him.

Even casually flipping channels past The Bold and the Beautiful, one couldn't miss Jack Wagner singing "Dancin' in the Moonlight." He seemed to sing it constantly.

Old-timers will certainly remember Dr. Tony Jones (Brad Maule), in his white coat at GH, singing "Not a Day Goes By." I can't remember the situation that would have caused him to break into song in the middle of the hospital, but stranger things have gone on there.

I think General Hospital should incorporate more singing into the show. I hope karaoke night isn't a one-time thing and that some other characters will get up and sing. The show seriously needs to lighten up, and this is one way to do it. Let Brandon Barash belt out a few - he's a wonderful performer. Nikolas should try his hand at crooning. He and Lucky should also sing a duet.

I say bring it on once in a while. Let's face it, at this point, it can't hurt. It might even help.

You beat me to the punch Beth! I was going to suggest you bring this thread over here. It is so very true - GH needs more light moments like this to break up the heavy drama. As I said on Finola's board - Guza can keep his CGI - just give me some good old rock & roll! I'm honestly not that hard to please :) I just know what I like and GH isn't giving it to me these days! The best they can come up with is another (oh dread!) CGI-simulated carwreck involving yet again (can you guess?) pregnant mothers. And of course it had to be Carly who gets involved! Get a clue GH - I don't want to see unborn children in peril anymore. That's not entertainment to me.

Robin : Did they live happily ever after?
Frisco : Isn't that how all good stories end?

I too enjoyed the Karaoke episodes, although i did find myself wishing it was Robert and Anna up on stage... and if it was them, what would they sing? The first thing that popped into my head was Sonny & Cher's "I got you babe." (Sonny Bono not Sonny Corinthos) 32494699

Well of course it would have to be "Waltzing Matilda"! Maybe Mac could pop in at the last minute too :)

This would be good!

We used to sing it "Four Eyed Zombie."
