I love a movie with a good twist. Mainly because most movies are just rehashed stuff I have seen in the past. So when I watch a movie that 'twists' or tricks me, and I believe in the twist, then I am very satisfied...

The Sixth Sense is one of these movies. I am sure we have all seen that movie, but just in case, I won't spoil it. But you all know what I mean. When that 'twist' comes at the end the entire movie theatre crowd I saw it with was floored....

Primal Fear with Ed Norton and Richard Gere. Another movie with a great twist at the end.

Can you think of some movies you have seen over the years that had a twist that, when you saw it, you smiled at yourself and said to the director/writer "you're good"...

Saw Sixth Sense more than 10 times ever since it went out, and I'm still baffled every time.

Primal Fear never saw it, and I'm once again in sync with you Rob, Hollywood has been rehashing the same old formula for too long now.

A few movies that made me say wow! Lately, The Prestige, with Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, David Bowie, Michael Caine, a fine cast that's part of the best actors of our time, I have to say that this one made me reacting quite in the same way that Sixth Sense did....a Christopher Nolan direction, and Nolan has been known in the past few years as one of the most talented and young director of his period.

The Prestige on imdb

The other movie is Mr. Brooks with Demi Moore, (yep I know) Kevin Costner and William Hurt. I'm no Costner fan, apart from a few of his movies (The Untouchables, JFK), no Demi's fan either, (I liked her in a Few Good Men only) never have been, but the movie and it's plot made me sit to the edge of my seat for the most part of the story. William Hurt's character is so twisted that he even becomes comical, (I love Hurt by the way, what an actor, what underrated actor that we should see more often). I liked Moore's character, which is a kickass she-detective that has zero tolerance for BS, but sadly this character didn't make me like Demi more (pun intended) than I ever did before.

Over all a good movie, a good plot. Costner is surprising in this one...

Mr. Brooks on imdb

Other than that, I've gone back to the movies I have love the most for the last 30 years, Hitchock's, the old James Bonds.....and so forth and so on.

Great post DOM..

I knew Nolan was the real thing after seeing Memento. That movie was really good, and if you haven't seen it..do. Its a bit different. The movie actually starts at the end and goes backwards from there. The mystery holds up both ways you view it...

And I agree with you about The Prestige. Another great twist. Primal Fear will, trust me, twist you too. Though I do warn you, it is rated R and probably should have gotten an NC-17. And I agree with you on Mr. Brooks too!!!

Thanks ROB,

Yep, I saw Memento and loved this movie too. Christopher Nolan is very different in his creations, the guy is on the cutting edge.

I liked Mr. Brooks but I have to add that I don't actually like those kind of movies normally, lots of gore, lots of blood, a bit too twisted in my own point of view, however, only for Hurt's performance and Costner surprising performance, I'd gladly see it again, I did just last week and I liked it more than the first time.

Primal Fear should be on my list huh? Right...I'll probably rent it soon then.

Thanks ROB!

A full review for Primal Fear?

So that means that I have to rent it this week-end huh?

Darn, I feel obligated really?

Shattered

With Tom Berenger. My brother, mother at the time, and my kids couldn't wait for me to see this one because the ending was so unexpected to them. Now, I've said they won't watch a suspense thriller for the first time with me. But they love to rent a DVD they have already seen and see if I can guess the ending. When I did, about midway through, it really pissed them off.

But, I dare say, most people would have found the ending to be quite shocking and satisfying.

Also, Suspicion the Hitchcock thriller with Cary Grant. Great twist on that ending.
I liked 'Shattered' with Gerard Butler, Pierce Brosnan and Maria Bello. That ending knocked me for a loop.

Good mention:
The Sixth Sense
Romeo is Bleeding
The Crying Game
Fallen
The Ring
The Others

Oh! You are so right and do I love that actor, Cary Grant...hHhhhhmmm goodie!
