A couple week ago I went bowling with three girls (14, 17 and 18). As the three of them were chatting the conversation meandered to Shia LeBeouf and then quickly spread to Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. The 18 yo remarked, "Sean Connery is delicious." The 17 agreed but the 14 didn't know who they were referring to. Richard Gere also got pretty high marks from this small group but this is the dance group so I'm sure he got bonus points for his dance skill. I found it interesting that the age of the actors didn't seem that important to them.

I also found it interesting that they were almost surgically attached to their cell phones but managed to maintain their text messaging conversations while simultaneously interacting appropriately at the bowling event. They managed to text relatively inconspicuously and at the end used the camera feature of their phones to record their bowling scores.

The oldest has gone off to college. (She was back for the weekend, thus the reason for the bowling event.) Apparently Grey's Anatomy is big on campus but not a word about soap operas.

Yep, there are gen Y's who do have good taste. I know a 20 yr old who watched old GH vids and NS2, and thought TR was hot then and hot now (uhm, just like I do- a Gen Xer).

Funny to think that these young women or on the verge to become women, have a few things in common with me. I fell for Sean Connery I was 5 years old, he was 33 years old (in his first James Bond movie), I'm now 43 years old and he just turned 79, I'm still under his power when I see him, his voice, what a voice, and this accent of his, although not as raw as it use to be (British or Australian actors are sadly losing a bit of their accents...too bad), is still sending me on the floor every time I hear it, that Scottish that lives outside Scotland and will do so until Scotland won't be an independent country, is still very much one of my favourites and will never stop to be, and that no matter our age.

I feel as strongly for Harrison Ford, what a voice too, but Harrison has been sending millions of goose bumps down my spine ever since I first saw him in American Graffiti or in Apocalypse Now some 30 odd years ago....no matter what kind of role he plays, I did like him a lot for his Jack Ryan's role...every time Harrison swoons me to no end, OoOOOoo! the power of attraction huh? And that devilish smile......32690724

The young lasses are right about Shia LeBeouf (probably use to be LeBoeuf once...but hell, what do I know) too, although I feel as a dirty old woman when I see him, there is definetely that little somthing there, can we call this charisma? Yes we could....the young man definetely holds a lot of it! And he's quite a good actor too, which gives him way more charisma than just his looks.

.....................and no soap talk? Doesn't surprise me! As for Grey's Anatomy, I know it's the big show right now and that even if I never watched it.

The last time I "hung out" with the gals we talked about NS2. They both watched. One is 19 and a freshman in college. The other is 22 and heading for graduate school. They liked Jason Thompson and thought he was very cute. They both frickin adored Tristan Rogers and both admitted bawling at the propect of his death. The youngest nicknamed him a boobear, a frequent term of endearment for her. One likes Greys Anatomy, the other likes Mad Men and chastised me for never having watched it. I'm getting to it, I swear!! They both have always adored Harrison Ford, Shia LeBuff? and Sean Connery. Niether of them regularly watch daytime soap operas though both tuned in to see Tristan on GH in 2006. You got them there, ABC. You just couldn't keep them there. What can I tell ya?

Now that I think of it Dom, the 18 yo is very similar to you. She's entergetic and very verbal.

I wouldn't worry about it Dom because I don't think the Y Generation cares. They seem to be less concerned about limiting themselves.

Hangin' with the Y's? It can be exhausting! I applaud you!
I have 5 nieces aged 15-18 and since I am their aunt and not heir mom, I get to be cool. They wanted to have a "girls nite" for the longest time. We finally did back at the end of the summer. We got movies and junk food and we settled in and I swear the phones were out the whole time! How they can text and do all kinds of other stuff is beyond me!
I must confess though, I do text alot, but I have to look at the phone!

One good thing, my son can't talk to me about girls, life, etc... but he will text me from his room to "talk" to me. Hey, any form of communication is ok w/me.

LOL! Now, now, now is she verbal and energetic you said, I'm not energetic certanly not comparing to a 18 year old, passionate I am though.

I don't worry about it and not limiting themselves, isn't that the fine line between youth and old age? At that age you never limit yourself Kay, adults do that for you, but when you were 18 years old, were you limiting yourself, I know I wasn't, I know it seems pretty far, now that my hair are almost whiter than they are brown but....as most adults do, I've never forgotten what it was to be young....I think that this wolrd would be a better place if we would never to forget what it means to be young...now I'm hearing old Frank singing...Young at Heart....
