Thanks for posting that. The first obvious comment is to agree with Robert's statement that men age like a fine wine. The Tristan we all knew and loved from the the GH days has only become the finest vintage possible. Be still my heart ! :)
The second is that if soaps are for baby boomers and gen-xers, then why doesn't GH recognize the disservice they are doing to the fans and give us what we want: less of the dark mobster mess and more of what entertains and brings light into our days. With as much of a stir that the Scorpios on NS have caused, can't GH see that it might be adventagous to not just bring Robert back for the wedding, but to give him a storyline? We LOVED his humor, his integrity, his righteous anger, and his devotion to those he loved. If that were to happen, I'd have to start watching GH again (and so would others).

Thanks for posting yogi. After watching Robert be so sick, it was great seeing TR looking 'healthy'. It does seem true that men age like fine wine. damn them. lol.
Sounds like more Robert to come on GH. Here's hoping it's done right (as in current NS2) and that he's more than just a spectator at the scrubs wedding.

I certainly appreciated the interview and as always Tristan looked fantastic. 98% of the interview was entertaining and informative and now I’m going to pick apart one statement.
I am not a boomer in fact I think most of us here are gen xers. Soaps may have a large boomer fan base but they also have a lot of gen xers. It's the generation Ys they aren't pulling in. The problem from the advertising standpoint is that those of us that started watching in the big 80's heyday are going to age out of the demographic in the next five to ten years and they need to replace us. With that said, we aren’t all boomers. I think propagating the concept that only old people watch soaps is detrimental to the industry. I think as guests on talk shows soap stars need to be mindful of creating the self fulfilling prophecy. An older soap character on a talk show directly stating that soaps are for boomers probably isn't going to inspire a teen to tune in. (Yes I’m trying, probably unsuccessfully, not to completely slam our illustrious host.)
GH is much more then your mother’s soap. Sure grandma may watch the show from 3-4 and be perfectly happy (or more likely pulling out what is left of her hair) but those of us from generation X have moved this into a new activity. This is the concept that ABC Daytime and SOAPnet needs to get out there. Soaps have always been intergenerational programs. Each generation takes the show and makes it their own. The boomers made the transition from radio to television and the generation xers began the expansion to the internet. The next generation of women needs to grab hold of soaps and find new ways to interact with these stories that are based in almost 50 years of history. SOAPnet and by proxy soap stars need to inspire this next evolution. TBTP need to be enthusiastic and hopeful about what is on the horizon especially when there is an opportunity, like the CW interview, to get this information out past the soap community.
Soap fans have always been a passionate bunch and now they are taking that enthusiasm onto the web. TPTB need to let those generation Y viewers know there is more to this then just the television program. This really shouldn’t fall on Tristan’s shoulders and I feel bad slamming him for one line in an interview. I've thought for a long time Brian Frons needs to stop talking about storylines and start telling me what he's doing to grow the soap industry. He’s the one that should be on these talk shows touting the intergenerational qualities of soaps and the way they have grown into this multimedia viewing activity that is unlike anything else in the entertainment world.
And yes, I loved the jeans and boots combo!

I agree with you Kay, I also reacted as you did, maybe not, my heart skipped a beat, when I heard that comment, I'm not a boomer as most of us in here I am a gen xer. Our imagination was captured by Robert, family and friends and we gave them our loyalty for life. I think that the excec should be reminded of this, their biggest demographic lies in our generation, they should know that, but they seem to overlook and disregard us. True we may not have as much money as the boomers or the Y ers but we are a loyal audience. And that may be why they keep disregarding our demographic. Oh well....I don't care what they do anymore since they still like to see junior's hack of a job, Sir Sri and team have given me what I wanted to see since 2006, that's a lie Sir Sri and team have given me what I wanted to see since Robert and Anna "disappeared" 16 years and a half ago henceforth I'm on my own and very personal Devane-Scorpio's Cloud9 and I'll enjoy it until the end.

You guys are terrific here there's no way anyone could disregard you. I think Tristan has totally restructured his website with ADMIN of course because of you and your support.
I agree with you all on most of us here are GenXers (DID I DO THAT RIGHT?) but I don't think Tristan meant to allienate us at all. You'd be amazed but alot of Baby Boomers I know do not miss their favorite soaps. Some have a TV in every corner just so they doesn't miss a scene, another can't go anywhere when her soap is on her whole day revolves around it, grocery store runs, traveling etc. have to be done before or after that soap. It's funny.
You guys are way to important to be disregarded, the GH Mothership now that's a different story, hell they've even allienated their actors on that one.

I don't thiink that he wanted to alienate anyone, he hasn't alinated me by his comment, there must be some truth about what he said, and the man knows what he's saying, he's been in this business for the last 40 years, so he knows.
However, I think that soaps executives, producers and all of these big suits are disregarding my demographic, most of this board's demo, most of Tristan's fans, most of us are gen-xers are his fans, we grew up with Robert, Tristan made him so real that we all came to think of him as an honest and loyal hero, loveable and palpable, too real to be fictional.
Of course as solely GH's fan, this show sucks so much right now that I feel betrayed, mostly because of what Guza has done with my best, Robert, Anna, Robin and Mac.
But you're right thanks to Sri, most of us are getting some satisfaction while our beloved characters are being written IN characters along with some respect and acknowledgment of their history. I for one can't ask for more, this show is as far away as possible from junior hack penning, far away as possible from his sleazy mobsters while being written as Gloria initially created them out to be. What could I ask for more? Suffice to say that I don't need anything more, Robert would never come back to junior hack's retched show, same for Anna and Robin, I wouldn't care, Sri gave me what I've been waiting for, yep, Gloria finally heard me.
And thanks for the nice comments there Michele.
